More than 300 scientists from 33 countries met in Kiel, Germany, 3-7 September 2018, at the international conference “Ocean Deoxygenation: Drivers and Consequences – Past – Present – Future” to discuss the decline of oxygen in the ocean. Conference participants agreed that this problem must be immediately and urgently addressed to develop solutions in order to stop the oxygen loss as soon as possible.
Therefore, at the conclusion of the conference, they published an appeal, the “Kiel Declaration”, in which they urgently call for more marine and climate protection (links to translations into French, German, Portuguese and Spanish can be found on the website below).
Everyone concerned about increasing ocean oxygen deoxygenation is welcome to read and, if willing to support, sign the “Kiel Declaration”.
