Animal Borne Ocean Sensors (AniBOS)

Animal Borne Ocean Sensors (AniBOS) is an emerging network of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS). It provides freely available oceanographic data collected through bio-logging, deploying sensors on marine animals.

AniBOS has been endorsed by UNESCO through the UN Ocean Decade as a Decade Project as part of the GOOS Ocean Observing Co-Design programme

The AniBOS Decade project complements conventional approaches to ocean observing by providing physical and ecological data in ocean regions directly at the scale and resolution relevant to animals and integrates animal collected data within the Global Ocean Observing System to improve our ability to observe and predict global climate processes and animal behaviour for societal benefit.
